Summer Youth Camps 2026

All camps include hands-on exploration, inquiry, themed art projects, activities, story time, research practice, games, and daily museum time. 

Registration online and in-person at the museum coming soon! 

All camps will take place M-F.

$120 per week per child ($100 per week per child for NHM members)

 

Drop-off window is 15 minutues before the camp begins and Pick-up window is 15 minutes after the camp ends. 

Each camp is designed for specific ages listed below.  Some age exceptions can be made.  Call the museum for details.

Wildlife Detectives

July 13-17, 2026 

Monday-Friday 1-5pm

For ages 6-9 years old. 

 

Get your magnifying glasses ready!

  • Learn about local wildlife and how to safely examine, track, and identify various fauna.

  • Practice scientific tool use, and journaling

  • Examine skulls & bones,

  • Identify and cast tracks

  • Engage with live animals, and much more.

The Feathered and the Ferocious: Birds & Dinosaurs

Dino and Parrot

 

 July 20- 24, 2026 Monday-Friday 1-5pm

For ages 6-9 years old. 

 

 

 

Let’s dig into it!

  • Explore evolution by learning to see real fossils and bones through the lens of a paleontologist

  • Dig into “excavation cakes”

  • Get familiar with real birds through a special guest visit 

  • Be inspired by guest speakers

  • Learn about the fossilization process, create fossils, and compare findings to modern birds through hands-on activities and museum exhibits

Science Heroes

July 27-21, 2026  Monday-Friday 9am-1pm

For ages 8-12 years old. 

A smorgasbord of science!

This truly special week is for older campers ages 8-12, and will emphasize a different science career each day of the week! Connect with real science heroes in our community, and explore their areas of expertise.  Each day will include fun and authentic learning experiences, and lots of engaging hands-on activities.

Marine Biology Extravaganza!

  • Explore the mysteries of life in the ocean! 

  • Get to know your tidepool neighbors

  • Learn about the wild and wacky creatures in the deep sea

  • Experience the wonders of marine mammals through the museum’s collections.
